A legacy project in honor of a dear friend, Red’s Place will change the way adults live and grow with ASD.

Red’s Place will be a living and learning community for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in River Falls, Wisconsin. A legacy project in honor of a dear friend, nicknamed “Red”, the project will provide a supportive living environment focused on wellness and independence.

Red’s Place is one of the first ASD-focused housing models of its kind in the Midwest. The project integrates 54 living units with academic and lifestyle amenities. The building is made up of two “L” shaped wings that joint to create an outdoor courtyard. The two-story residential portion provides each adult with a 1-bedroom apartment of their own to fostering independence in the context of the greater community. The courtyard is to promote a connection to nature, as well as, the ability to see and engage in social activities. The academic and amenity building is designed as a “Main Street” experience of community spaces that include classrooms, a teaching kitchen, theater, gym, clinic, salon, shops and a restaurant.

The KORB team collaborated with the client to create spaces that are thoughtful to the needs of the neurodiverse community living there and inviting to the family and friends who visit.
